Google One AI Premium: what it is now

Google's current plan FAQ says the old Google One AI Premium plan has a new name: Google AI Plus. It includes Gemini benefits and 400 GB of storage. That is not the same tier as Google AI Pro, which currently includes 5 TB of storage and higher limits. If you searched for AI Premium because you want more Gemini access, check the plan name and storage in Google One before buying; if you need the higher 5 TB tier, compare Google AI Pro instead.

The name change, without the guesswork

The old name can appear in search results, invoices and older articles, but the current Google plan page gives the authoritative mapping.

  • Google AI Premium is now presented as Google AI Plus.
  • The current AI Plus description includes 400 GB of storage and Gemini benefits across Google apps.
  • Google AI Pro is a separate, higher tier with 5 TB of storage in the current comparison.
  • Google AI Ultra has higher limits again and is offered with different storage capacities.
  • Always confirm the tier name and storage in Google One; an old article may describe a retired package.

Old AI Premium versus today's AI Pro

The practical question is not what the old plan was called; it is how much storage and which Gemini limits you need now.

  • Google AI Plus: current reference is 400 GB and 2x standard Gemini access.
  • Google AI Pro: current reference is 5 TB and 4x standard Gemini access.
  • Google AI Ultra: current reference is 20 TB at 5x Pro or 30 TB at 20x Pro.
  • Choose Plus for light Gemini use, Pro for Flow and larger libraries, and Ultra only for sustained heavy work.

Why the old name still appears

Google product names change faster than billing records, support articles and third-party guides.

  • An old invoice can retain the name that was active when the charge was created.
  • A regional rollout can show different names or prices for a short period.
  • Third-party pages may keep the old term to match historical searches.
  • A saved browser result or marketplace listing is not a current plan quote.

How to choose between Plus and Pro

Choose Plus for light Gemini use; choose Pro when storage or sustained limits are the reason you are upgrading.

  • Pick Plus if 400 GB is enough and you mainly want Gemini in Google apps.
  • Pick Pro if you need 5 TB, expanded Flow access, higher Gemini limits or more NotebookLM capacity.
  • Pick Ultra only if you repeatedly hit Pro limits on advanced or video-heavy work.
  • A one-month top-up lets you test a tier without committing to a renewal through this site.

Before you renew or upgrade

Check the live membership and renewal date before changing anything.

  • Open Google One on the account and confirm the current plan name.
  • Check the storage amount; that is a faster clue than the marketing name.
  • Review the renewal date and price before cancelling or switching.
  • If you bought a one-month top-up here, keep the GP number and do not assume it renews automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Is Google One AI Premium the same as Google AI Pro?

Not according to Google's current FAQ. It says the AI Premium plan has a new name, Google AI Plus, and describes 400 GB of storage. Google AI Pro is a separate higher tier with 5 TB in the current comparison.

Why do some articles say AI Premium is AI Pro?

Plan names and packaging changed over time, and older articles can describe a previous mapping. Use the live Google One plan page and the storage shown on your own account before relying on an old label.

Should I buy Plus or Pro if I only know the old AI Premium name?

Start with the storage and workload. If 400 GB is enough and you mainly use Gemini in Google apps, Plus is the closer match. If you need 5 TB, Flow and higher limits, compare Pro.

Can a direct top-up change an existing Google subscription?

No. A top-up applies one month to an eligible account; it does not edit a Google subscription, transfer a plan or guarantee a renewal. Manage any existing Google subscription through Google One.

Where can I see the live price?

Use the live product card and price pages on this site for the top-up amount, and Google One checkout for Google's own local price. The two are separate purchases with different renewal rules.
